ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥¼ä Faculty consists of the most highly trained professionals in the creative industries. While our full-time instructors provide more one-on-one time with students than any other school, our part-time instructors are pulled right from the heart of the industry, equipped with the most current, relevant industry experience and credits.

Kat
Montagu

Head of Department

Kat is a working writer, story editor, producer, and instructor. She’s prepared countless ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥¼ä graduates to work on feature films, in the writers' rooms of TV series, and in game studios. Kat is the Senior Story Editor for Crazy 8s, writes noir drama, and has a Creative Writing MFA from UBC.

 

 

Arun
Fryer

Instructor

Arun Fryer is an award-winning filmmaker and media producer from Vancouver, BC. His narrative films and documentaries have played in numerous global festivals, and his online releases have cumulated millions of views and impressions.

 

 

Kevin
Lee

Instructor

Kevin has produced, shot, or edited hundreds of corporate, documentary, and educational productions. He has experience working in all forms of motion media from 1-inch videotape to the latest digital formats and codecs. He currently instructs Post Production as well as Production Sound.

 

 

Andrew
McEvoy

Instructor

Andrew has written fifteen feature films, three series bibles, and holds producer credits in film, TV, and video games. His script, The Pixelated Man, was the winner of the Slamdance Screenplay Competition and was subsequently developed through James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment.

 

 

Fredy
Mendoza

Instructor

Fredy is a Colombian-Canadian Production Designer and Art Director. With a decade of experience in the film industry, Fredy has become a seasoned professional. His expertise spans various genres, including feature films, short films, television series, and commercials.Ìý

 

 

Isaac
Miranda Rosas

Instructor

Isaac is a Mexican-Canadian professional with a strong background in film, animation, photography, and art, who continuously explores of the limits of visual storytelling. Throughout his career, Isaac has crossed borders, lending his talent to film projects in Canada, the USA, and Mexico.

 

 

Jayme
Pfahl

Senior Instructor

Jayme has been involved in the film industry for almost 25 years. Jayme has extensive producer credits ranging from TV comedy, drama, feature films and documentary to reality-based television and game shows, as well as major event planning and app development.

 

 

Brendan
Prost

Instructor

Brendan Prost is a filmmaker celebrated for intimate, character-driven storytelling. His body of work includes four feature films and several award-winning shorts that have screened at major international, Oscar-qualifying, and queer film festivals. He holds an MFA from the University of British Columbia, a BFA with distinction from Simon Fraser University, and is an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre’s Directors’ Lab.

 

 

Keiron
Simons

Instructor

With a background as a counsellor and a lawyer, Keiron has worked as a mediator and trainer for more than twenty years. At ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥¼ä, he helps students learn to work as part of a production team. His practice focuses on (re)building work teams and other relationships in the workplace and community.

Vera-Barahona

Instructor

Sergio Vera-Barahona is an internationally experienced cinematographer and commercial photographer with over 30 years working across narrative, documentary, advertising, corporate and specialized fields. He combines strong visual authorship with deep technical expertise, disciplined workflows, and collaborative leadership, enabling him to translate ambitious ideas into efficient productions with a clear long-term creative vision.

 

 

Gabriel
Souza Nunes

Instructor

Gabriel is a creative and detail-oriented filmmaker with a background in graphic design and marketing. He is passionate about creative writing, directing, production design, and film production.

 

 

Connor
Gaston

Instructor

Connor Gaston is an award-winning filmmaker from Vancouver, British Columbia. His work has screened at top film festivals around the world, including the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Gaston’s first feature film, The Devout, earned him 5 Leo Awards, including Best Picture, the BC Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival, and a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best First Feature.Ìý

He is a recent alum of Norman Jewison’s Canadian Film Centre, the 2017 TIFF Talent Lab, the 2018 TIFF Writers’ Lab, and the 2022 Kyoto Filmmakers’ Lab. He most recently received Telefilm production funding for his 2nd feature film Baby Tooth. He serves as the Senior Directing Instructor at Vancouver Film School.

Taylor

Instructor

Gail is a Production Designer with 40+ years of experience in the film & television industry. She has had the opportunity to hone her craft globally working in London, Italy, Canada, and the US, and now resides in Vancouver.

Mel
Corrigan

Instructor

Editor Mel Corrigan moved from Toronto to Vancouver in 2018 to attend Vancouver Film School’s Film Production Program. In the BC industry, Mel worked as an assistant editor and then as an editor on many films. Her passion for film keeps her constantly looking for new and creative ways to bring the director's vision to life. Her goal is to tell unique and inspiring stories, while showcasing meaningful dialogue and producing work that enhances every viewer’s experience.

 

 

Tessa
Mol

Assistant Directing Instructor

With 20 years of experience in big budget and independent filmmaking, Tessa's credits include "The Flash," "The Haunting of Bly Manor," "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," and "The Big Sky." She is an active participant in the collaborative process, a major advocate for safety on set and specializes in logistics/communication.Ìý

 

Bruna Arbex

Instructor

Bruna Arbex is an award-winning Brazilian director/writer whose work has been featured at the Female Eye Film Festival, Chilliwack Independent Film Festival, and The Leos Awards. Her most recent shorts have found homes on streaming platforms, including tellofilms.com and CBC GEM.
